Introduction

Pre-Test
Each curriculum commences with a Risk Management Pre-Test. The test is designed to measure participant’s baseline knowledge of Risk Management core concepts. At the conclusion of the program year the Post-Test is released. The test is designed to measure the increase in understanding of the same core concepts in the Pre-Test.
Orientation/Annual Lecture
The Orientation/Lecture is designed to introduce the program year themes for the audience’s specific specialty. The lecture is facilitated by an experienced Medical-Malpractice Defense Attorney. CME credit is available for the sessions.

Curriculum

Web Based-Modules
MRM’s web-based modules are developed by a team of risk managers, medical malpractice defense attorneys, insurance executives, healthcare managers and practicing physicians and are designed to reinforce the themes for the program year. CME credit.
Risk Management Rounds
Risk Management Rounds (RMRs)© is a unique program designed by MRM to educate physicians in an “open setting” utilizing actual redacted medical malpractice cases representative of system gaps or administrative lapses that resulted in malpractice claims. Using attorney and medical co-facilitators these malpractice cases are reviewed from the time the patient receives care to the time the case is resolved. Actual redacted charts from the case are used, adding to the "real life" experience. Participants actually discuss the best practice to avoid the malpractice exposures discussed.
E-Learning "Risk Alerts"
E-Learning Risk Alerts are brief situational questions dealing with risk assessment or are brief vignettes that highlight the specific risk management themes for the year. These brief cases are designed to reinforce program themes.
Individual Lectuincludes/In-service Education
MRM, at the request of their clients, provides one in-service sessions addressing “high exposure” areas that the client or MRM identifies, (e.g., Emergency Department, OR, etc.). The sessions are approximately 1.5 hours. The sessions will address the specific exposures associated with the department/area receiving the in-service.

Risk Management "Take-Aways"
After each educational activity MRM distributes take-away handouts highlighting the practical risk management interventions the participants can utilize to avoid malpractice exposures and improve patient safety.

Results Measuring

Self-Assessment Survey
Starting in year two of education MRM will distribute the Self-Assessment Survey to all participants. This survey is designed to measure what practice-change initiatives have occured as a result of the Risk Management Education.
Evaluation Reporting - Key Performance Metrics
MRM collects feedback data for every aspect of the program. For example, MRM provides periodic evaluation results to clients after each live-event. In addition, MRM provides a report that delineates the progress of the program using six key performance initiatives.
