Methodology

Paramount in MRM’s approach is systematically bridging the knowledge gap between the medical and legal realities of practicing medicine in today’s environment.

To achieve these objectives, MRM employs a progressive and multidisciplinary approach to risk evaluation and analysis, and designs customized and practical solutions for its clients. So, what is our approach and what makes it so successful?

Risk Assessment and Analysis
MRM first works with the client to identify their high-risk medical malpractice exposures through activities such as a comprehensive claims analysis, practice assessments and pre-test analyses. MRM then utilizes this information to identify and prioritizes each clients most significant risk exposures.
Design & Development
The next step is to utilize the information obtained through MRM's claims analysis and practice assessments to customize a Risk Management Educational Program and practice change initiatives that meet the unique needs of the healthcare organization.
Implementation
MRM, under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer and/or Director of Risk Management, provides the staff support to manage the implementation of the customized multi-modality program. The implementation process includes:
  • Indentifying the Program Participants (e.g. MDs, APRNs, PAs, RNs)
  • Developing a marketing plan
  • "Blocking and Tackling" associated with the roll-out of the program
A multi-modality educational program includes: live events, web-based and e-learning activities, and various practice change initiatives.
Compliance and Audits
Key to the success of the MRM program is carefully monitoring program participants' compliance with the educational and audit requirements. MRM has automated every aspect of compliance monitoring and reporting, and provides routine updates.
Measurement
MRM utilizes six key performance metrics to measure the value of the Risk Management Program. These metrics are:
  1. Pre/Post Test
  2. Claims Reduction
  3. Return on Investment
  4. Behavior Change
  5. Attitudinal Response
  6. ACGME Core Competencies
MRM has compiled performance data identifying success in each of these categories.
